Our Little Family
Gray and Alessandra are a couple leaving home in Perth, Western Australia to travel with their dog, Sabre.
Alessandra is of Cuban and German stock, and grew up in Spain and Germany. In her later teen years, she decided that a life of adventure was the life for her. After travelling to different parts of the world, she made her way to Australia, working in vegetable farms and as an au pair, making friends along the way. In January of 2020, Alessandra was due to leave Perth when she met Gray, and they quickly grew inseparable. In the end, Alessandra decided to remain, and they have been together ever since. Alessandra is an early childhood educator and ex-party entertainer. She loves to bake; enjoys long days at the beach; and always sees the best in people.
Gray was born and bred in Perth, Western Australia. He has always been drawn to the arts; whether it be through music, writing, painting or performing. In December of 2018, Gray was unexpectedly diagnosed with cancer and lost an eye to the disease. This - along with a solo pilgrimage to South America just after the operation - drove home the importance of living fully in an uncertain world. Since then, he has focused far more on his artistic interests, painting murals around Western Australia. He decided to give up his job as a psychologist in schools at the end of 2022 to explore the world with his partner. He likes to read, paint, and to wander forest trails.
Sabre, as mentioned, is a dog. He was adopted by Gray in April 2018, from a pound in Geraldton - a small Western Australian town where Gray lived and worked as a school psychologist at the time. He was two years old. Sabre is hard-headed, stubborn, clumsy and altogether too goofy for his own good. He enjoys walkies, tearing the stuffing out of toys (in order to locate and destroy the squeaker), and doing the exact opposite of what he is told.
